Detailed description
When Sylvie first set out in the trade, she used to make faïence tiles decorated with nature-inspired motifs or other ancient styles interpreted in her own unique, tasteful and original way. Her decorated faïence traditional hexagonal tiles, known as ‘malons’, lend cheerfulness to kitchens, bathrooms, tabletops and more.
It was not until 2006 that Sylvie started to learn throwing (shaping clay using a potter’s wheel) and created ‘terralhas’ (fired glazed earthenware pieces): plates, serving dishes, dessert dishes, bowls and vases, all in different colours with Provençal motifs, perfect for brightening up the dining table. In her charming boutique, la Mostra, alongside her regular collection, Sylvie also displays work made by other craftspeople such as ceramic artists whose work she appreciates for its creativity and originality and which serve as a source of delight to faithful amateurs as well as day-trippers who come in to browse this unique workshop and boutique.
