From Saturday 17th to Wednesday 21st October 2026, 2nd edition of the ‘Verdon Starry Weekend’ will take place at the Vénascle lodge with the Astro Évasion association!
Come and enjoy the quality of the Verdon sky in a friendly atmosphere of exchange and sharing!
Activities offered during the weekend:
–>Daytime observations of the sun: photosphere, chromosphere, prominences, etc.
–>Night-time observations of the sky: constellations, planets, globular clusters, nebulae, galaxies, etc. Some telescopes will be equipped with cameras to take long exposures and capture beautiful images of the sky, which you can view live on computer screens.
–>Lectures/debates: binoculars and telescopes, different types of mounts, eyepieces, stars, the solar system, the Sun, polar auroras, etc.
During the early part of the evening (or on cloudy nights), mini lectures/debates will be offered on various topics covered during the stay. The themes are: and more, depending on the availability of the speakers.
–>Educational activities for children and teenagers: open to children (aged 7+) and families: building a mobile sky map, building a sundial, how an armillary sphere works, using a Solarscope, locating an object on a sky map, creating a scale model of the solar system, etc.

To take part in this starry weekend, there are various options for registering for activities, accommodation and meals:
Access to activities:
1 night (€25/adult)
2 nights (€40/adult)
free for children (up to 12 years old).
Accommodation with breakfast:
in a dormitory with 6 to 8 beds (from £37/person/night)
in a room in a guesthouse (from £76/person/night)
Meals:
packed lunch (€10/meal)
meal at the gîte restaurant (starter, main course, dessert – €25/meal)
