In Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, art is everywhere: on ancient facades, in brightly-lit studios, and even in the very soul of the village. Nestling in the heart of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, between cliffs and azure skies, this exceptional place has inspired artists for centuries. Listed as one of France’s most beautiful villages and awarded the ‘Villes et Métiers d’Art’ (Towns and Crafts) label, Moustiers perpetuates the traditions of its artists and craftsmen. Of course, earthenware remains the emblem of this exceptional heritage, but today it rubs shoulders with a diversity of creative practices: painting, glass, sculpture, contemporary ceramics, illustration, wood, textiles and artistic cutlery.

Art on show

Throughout the year, the Galerie de l’Ancien Presbytère offers a rich and varied cultural programme. Set in a charming heritage site right in the heart of the village, it hosts exhibitions and sales. The gallery showcases local talent and guest artists, paying particular attention to artistic quality and diversity of style.

But art doesn’t stop at the gallery walls. Many of the village’s shops and workshops also host works of art throughout the season: designer shop windows, group exhibitions, ephemeral installations… Moustiers is like an open-air art trail, where every alleyway can become a space for expression. These initiatives reinforce the village’s creative identity and offer visitors unexpected discoveries around every corner.
