Located in the heart of the village, in the former premises of the Town Hall, the Earthenware Museum invites you on a real journey through time. Through more than 500 pieces on display, you will discover the evolution of this emblematic art, closely linked to the history and identity of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. From its beginnings in the seventeenth century to contemporary creations, earthenware tells the story of a human, artistic and technical adventure. The museum offers a complete immersion in a world of finesse, colour and know-how.
A unique collection in Provence
The museum presents one of the finest public collections of earthenware in Moustiers. You can admire old pieces with classic or rarer decorations, works by the great families of earthenware makers, as well as modern creations testifying to the current vitality of this artistic craft.
Each room highlights an era, a technique or a decorative style. Thanks to clear labels and mediation supports, young and old can enrich their visit according to their desires.

A living museum, at the heart of heritage
The Musée de la Faïence is not only an exhibition space: it actively participates in the promotion of the arts and crafts. It regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, conferences and guided tours. The objective: to create a dialogue between tradition and contemporary creation, and to show the richness of a local know-how that is still passed on today.

From the beginning of April to the end of October, enjoy every morning at 9:30 am (excluding Tuesdays and Sundays) an immersive and rich guided tour of about 1 hour at the Earthenware Museum. Accompanied by an expert guide, discover the history of this excellent craft housed in a 15th-century mansion. Immerse yourself in the emblematic decorations of the Grand Salon Bleu, the Grotesques or the Salle Rose, and grasp all the finesse of earthenware manufacturing techniques. The visit is for everyone (€7 per person), from 16 years old accompanied, and remains free for the youngest. Self-guided individual tours are also available, and guided tours can be arranged on request for groups throughout the year.

Culture in Moustiers is not limited to its museum. Throughout the year, many exhibitions come to life in the shops, galleries and public places of the village. Paintings, photographs, ceramics, sculptures… these temporary events make Moustiers an open-air artistic trail.
