Responsible tourism
At Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, responsible tourism is one of our top priorities. We want to preserve our exceptional landscapes, our unique heritage and the well-being of our residents, so we encourage people to discover the region in a respectful way. Through simple gestures, informed choices and support for local stakeholders, everyone can help protect our environment while enjoying an authentic experience. Together, let’s ensure that the beauty of the Verdon is passed on to future generations.
I use my water bottle
A water bottle is a good way of reducing waste. What’s more, all the fountains in Moustiers are drinkable, so you can fill your water bottle quickly.
Stop picking
When I’m out and about, I don’t pick plants – they’re in their place in the earth and can grow in their natural environment?
I erase my tracks!
When I go on picnics, I take ALL my rubbish with me! For example, a banana peel pollutes because it takes 8 to 10 months to decompose. In the Verdon, we don’t have the right insects to ensure that it disappears quickly.
I stay on the path
When hiking, I stay on the marked paths so as not to damage nature, crush young plants or disturb animals!
I choose local!
For my meals and souvenirs, I prefer local producers and artisans.
I keep my dog on a lead
When out in the countryside, keep your dog on a lead to respect the peace and quiet of wild animals and encourage them to reproduce.
I sort my rubbish!
On holiday, as at home, I sort my rubbish! Find the sorting instructions in the Tourist Office and the sorting points on the village map.
