During your fishing sessions, you’ll find plenty of roach, perch, pike and bleak. Lake trout also inhabit the lake bed. If you’re lucky, you may be surprised to find gudgeons or pike-perch on your hook.
But just because there are plenty of them doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to reel in a fish every time you cast your rod. Fishing is an activity that requires patience!
Where can I buy my fishing licence?
To fish on Lac de Sainte-Croix, you need a fishing permit. Whether you’re just passing through or a year-round resident, you’ll find every type of fishing licence to suit you. Whether you want to have fun for a day, a week or the whole season, come and fish at the lake!
We sell fishing cards at the Tourist Office. This is valid for beginners as well as for a reciprocal vignette if you come from another département.
You can also buy your fishing licence online. A great way to prepare for your stay in advance!
Regulations
You can fish all year round on Lac de Sainte-Croix, as long as you respect the timetable: start no earlier than half an hour before sunrise and finish no later than half an hour after sunset. Some species are protected during certain periods, particularly when they are spawning. To protect their reproduction, fishing for them is only authorised during specific periods.
Carnivorous fish, for example, may not be caught between the second Saturday in March and the second Friday in June inclusive, in temporary reserve zones. On Lac de Sainte-Croix, these protected areas are located in Anse de la Maïre, Anse du Galetas and Anse de Repentance. By respecting these rules, you can preserve the lake’s exceptional biodiversity while enjoying your passion for nature.

The good news is that yes, your child can fish with you! Under certain conditions:
- My child is under 12: with the “under 12” discovery card, priced at €7, your child can fish all year round in all reciprocal departments.
- My child is aged between 12 and 18: with the ‘minors’ card, priced at €26, your teenager will be able to fish all year round, in all reciprocal departments.
