Notre-Dame de Beauvoir Chapel

When we arrive in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, we can only be overwhelmed by its chapel, visible between the two cliffs, dominating the village. Built between the XIIth and the XVIth century, it is classified as a historical monument in 1921. It is partly Romanesque and partly Gothic. The chapel is well known for its "suscitations". In the 17th century, stillborn babies were brought back to life during their baptism, thus gaining heaven.

How to reach Notre-Dame

When you arrive in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, take Marcel Provence street. Signs will lead you directly to the chapel. It takes between 15 and 20 minutes to climb. Be careful the steps are slippery. Take the time to contemplate the fourteen stations of the Way of the Cross, decorated much later with earthenware tiles made by Simone Garnier. Once you have arrived at the chapel, you can go back down towards the Sainte-Madeleine cave. You will be on a rocky path with exceptional views over the roofs of the village. On a clear day, you can also see Sainte-Croix lake, only a few minutes drive from Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. At the end of the descent, you will come back to la Clappe Street, North-East of the village. You will have 3 options : continue the hike by Les Claux, and thus benefit from a stroll in the middle of the olive-trees, leave in loop, on the heights of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, by the circuit Vincel or return to the center of the village.
